Everyone has been asking me to do this for years and I always didn’t want to because of various reasons.  Well this recipe I have is bothersome and a lot of work but it is half the time of the original recipe I had and I don’t even have to put in softeners and all.

These are my simple favorite starters when I go for Japanese.  You will learn to make;

Eurasian Cooking Class

As you know I am part Eurasian, hence where the craziness and zaniness comes from.  Eurasian style of cooking is different from home to home depending on the mix of parentage.  I’m a big confusement, but these are the foods I grew up with.

  1. Eurasian Chicken Pie – A must for Christmas or any celebration

  3. Ayam Pong Teh

I’ve always loved poached pears but seldom had it in a tart.  I actually didn’t even think it was possible till I tasted this. Every part of this recipe is a dessert of its own and can be used for other things.

You will learn;

It’s the yearly Turkey Class; learn to make my moist turkey and all the trimmings and accompaniments that go with it.

Gluten Free seems to be the buzz these days with many of us suddenly becoming gluten intolerant.  These are some of the nice gluten free and easy to make cookies without special kinds of flour and stuff like xanthan gum and all.  These are easy no nonsense Gluten Free Treats.

Frankly I just do not like to use all the different types of flours they have for Gluten Free Treats as it often yields funny tasting end products.

Price of foods are just shocking these days.  Even I feel it when I go out.  So why not prepare stuff for the kids to take to school. It’s easy, it can be stored, and it can be used in different ways and it is much healthier as well.  And it can be packed for office as well.

Old Fashioned Butter Cake and Butter Icing Class

Thursday May 1st 10 to 12 pm (Public Holiday Class)

Let’s make Old Fashioned Butter Cake and Butter Icing

You will also learn to do some basic decoration like spreading icing, piping the sides and covering borders on your own cake.

This is a hands on session. The old fashion way to make this is by using a spoon.  So we will be doing it the traditional way.

French Baguette Class

Learn to make two types of French Bread.  The last class was just wonderful.

You will learn to bake from scratch the French Method with the crusty finish and the American Method which is slightly crusty.

Learn to make your own cultured rising agent.  This can be kept in the fridge for a long long time and reused from time to time.  You will learn;

Each person will get their yeast free culture to take home to practice.

Hum Ching Peng and Yau Char Kway

Sunday May 25th 2 to 5.30

I have been practicing these recipes for a while now and putting on a lot of weight in the process because of all the tasting. I used to pay AUD2 for a Yau Char Kway in Australia more than 10 years ago and it was FROZEN!

I am doing this because they do not sell this where I live anymore and the nearest would be Paramount which I find always leaves an after taste and a bad throat.  And they seem to only sell it in the morning when I am least interested to eat it.

Believe it or not Yau Char Kway tastes wonderful with Indian Coconut Chutney and Heavenly with Melted Chocolate… just saying!

Sunday November 27th 10 to 1 pm

It’s my favorite time of year when we make our Christmas Cake. You will learn to make two types of fruit cakes.

  1. Rich Rich Fruit Cake
  2. Semolina Fruit Cake – Sri Lankan Fruit Cake

This is a semi hands on class where students will participate in making and baking the cake together.
