April 2018 Cooking and Baking Class

I started the month with a Kuih Class. Kuih (Pronouced Kway) are local sweet or savory delights Malaysians and Singaporeans have for breakfast or tea.  Kuih is a delicacy that goes back to hundreds of years where it was deftly prepared by Nonya Ladies.  Now almost every race had their own variation of Nonya Kuih.  There are not many good Kuih Sellers around, so it is something we need to preserve.

So from this month onwards I will hold a Kuih Class every month featuring different Kuihs from the Nonya People as well as Malay Kuih.  This years  endeavor is called……. My Kuih Quest!

Soft Bread Class

Saturday April 14th 10 to 1 pm

You will learn to make Japanese Soft Bread along with variations of;

Roasting Class – Let’s do a Leg of Lamb

Saturday April 14th 2.30 to 5.30

Let’s roast a leg of lamb and prepare its accompaniments complete with dessert . You will learn:

  3. Salade Nicoise
  4. Old Fashioned Bread and Butter Pudding

Let’s make Pies!

Sunday April 15th 2.30 to 5.30

Learn to make Short Crust Pastry and pies galore. You will take home all the different pies. You will learn:

Baked Cheesecake Class

Indian Cooking Class

Sunday April 22nd  2.30 to 5.30

 Learn to make a Northern Indian Meal. You will learn to make

  1. Vegetable Beriani
  2. Smoked Mutton Curry
  3. Palak Paneer
  4. Learn to make Paneer from scratch

Price Per Person: $150 (Class will commence once there are 6 students)

March 5th Saturday 2 to 4.30

A fully hands on class, making French Macaroons with different fillings.

I can only take 5 students per class due to oven space.  This is a fully hands on class. Please bring containers to take your macarons home.

Cupcake Class

March 6th Sunday 10 to 1 pm

Learn to make and decorate freestyle cupcakes

5.     Chocolate Cream

6.     Learn to do freestyle designs

Each person gets to take home 8 decorated cupcakes. All ingredients will be provided. Kindly bring a container to take home your cupcakes.

Table Etiquette for Kids and Young Adults

March 15th 10.30 to 12.30

Manners maketh the Man, learn to eat like a lady and a gentlemen, no matter where you are, or who you’re with. Learn to make a difference

A proper 4 course meal will be served.

Price Per Person: $85 inclusive of notes.  Class will commence once there are 6 students.

School Holiday Cupcake Class for kids

March 16th Wednesday 10 to 12.30 pm

Learn to make and decorate freestyle cupcakes

Nasi Lemak Kukus

March 20th Sunday 10 to 12.30

Freshly made Nasi Lemak Kukus after class

1.     Nasi Lemak Kukus – not the rice cooker kind but the real steamed kind.

Then we will all sit together and have  Nasi Lemak  complete with the rest of the trimmings.

March 26th Saturday 2 to 4.30 pm

Learn to make Malaysia’s favorite comfort food.

This is a fully hands on class. Learn to make:

4.     Vegetable Dhal Curry

Cheesecake Class

March 27th Sunday 2 to 4.30

We will learn to make a portioned cheesecake and whole cheesecakes. These are rich cheesecakes and not the type you find in our local cake shops.

3.     Chocolate Cheese Strawberry Cupcakes
