Nasi Ulam Class
Monday September 1st 10 to 1 pm

Learn to prepare Nasi Ulam and some of its accompaniments. You will learn to make;

Jelly Mooncake Class
Monday September 1st 2.30 to 5.30

Jelly Mooncakes are not too bad. After turning my nose up to it all these years, thinking it was quite blasphemous, I have changed. You will learn;

Nasi Lemak Kukus
Saturday September 6th 10 to 1 pm

Learn to make real Nasi Lemak Kukus along with all its accompaniments. You will learn:
1. Nasi Lemak (Coconut Rice) – steamed not boiled
2. Chicken Rendang
3. Sambal
4. Crispy Fried Fish

Price Per Person: $100 per person (Class will commence once there are 6 students)

Pineapple Tarts
Sunday September 7th 2.30 to 5.30

What is life without pineapple tarts. Learn to make two types of pineapple tarts.
You will learn two types of pastries and the jam of course.

1. Old Fashion Pineapple Tart – Opened Tarts
2. Rolled Pineapple Tart
3. Pineapple Jam
This is a hands on class, please bring containers to take home your cookies

Indian Sweets 1
Saturday September 13th 10 to 1 pm

I learnt quite a few basic Indian Sweets when I was in Bangalore. These are the first three you will learn;

Chicken Curry Bread and a Margarita Pizza
Saturday September 13th 2.30 to 5.30

I had Chicken Curry Bread (not chicken curried bread) one night when my brother brought it from Port Dickson. And at $40 a pop, I think you deserve to learn it and that too after you wait an hour in line.
That’s why you’re learning it today. You will also learn to make my favorite kind of Pizza, so it is a class of east and west!

Beriani for Diwali Class
Tuesday September 16th 10 to 1 pm
Learn to make two types of Beriani. You will learn to make;

Eggless Cakes
Tuesday September 16th 2.30 to 5.30

I used to think Eggless cakes were a pain in the neck, so now I have created some easy ones that will always come out without much fear. You will learn to make;

1. Eggless Red Velvet Cupcakes
2. Date and Walnut Cake
3. Dulce de Leche Topping

Children’s Holiday Class
Pizza and Calzone Class
Thursday September 18th 2.30 to 4.30

Class for children aged 8 to 14. Your kids will learn to make Pizza and Calzone along with two toppings.
They will learn:

1. Pizza Dough
2. Calzone
3. Creamy Chicken and Mushroom
4. Uncooked Tomato Topping

Price Per Child: $90 Class will commence once there are 6 students.

Old Fashioned Butter Cake and Butter Icing Class
Saturday September 20th 10 to1 pm

You will learn to make the Old Fashioned Butter Cake by hand and then do basic decoration with Old Fashioned Butter Icing. Each person will get a butter cake fully iced to take home.

This is a hands on class.

Price Per Person: $100 (Class will commence once there are 5 students)

Malay Curries
Saturday September 20th 2.30 to 5.30

My favorite Malay curries, something I have not tackled as a class but often serve it to my customers.
1. Ayam Masak Merah
2. Ayam Kerutuk
3. Mutton Rendang

Butterless Cakes – Kasutera Cake Day
Sunday September 21st 2.30 to 5.30

As much as I love buttery cakes, this very old cake from Japan seems to be the rage in a few hotels and top notch bakeries around town. Let’s make the;

1. Nagasaki Castella Cake – a cake from the Portuguese that entered into Japan hundreds of years ago
2. Matcha Kasutera Cake
Both have no butter or oil.

It’s my favorite time of year when we make our Christmas Cake. You will learn to make two types of fruit cakes.

  2. Semolina Fruit Cake – Sri Lankan Fruit Cake

This is a semi hands on class where students will participate in making and baking the cake together.

Description

During the Mayan civilization, a 1.5oz milk chocolate bar can probably buy you a rabbit or more. Since we don’t need that kind of currencies these days, we might as well turn it into yummilicious chocolate treats with today’s deal: RM88 instead of RM189 for a chocolate indulgence class.

At this fun and entertaining hands on classes, Chef Nicholas Pillai, a food writer, recipe contributor and food stylist for various publications, will be sharing the techniques and demonstrating step by step the art of making chocolaty treats including chocolate lava cakes, decadent chocolate cookies, chocolate muffins and rich chocolate brownies. Cooking Classes for the Month of May

Hello from Fiji, it’s wonderful to be here this time of year, I am still on my holidays but I thought I better get my May Classes out especially since its Mothers Day on the 8th of May.  So classes for May are as follows:

Saturday 7th May 10 to 12.30 pm

A Brunch for Mum – Mother’s Day Class

This class is open to Mum and Child or Dad and Child. Let’s do something nice for Mum on Mother’s Day. You will learn:

  1. Vegetarian Burgers
  2. A Savory Cheese and Chicken Muffin
  3. Tempura Vegetables

This is a fully hands on class.  You will be working in pairs.

Price per Parent and Child: $120 (extra child $30) Class will commence once there are 5 pairs of participants.

Saturday 7th May 2 to 4.30 pm

Make and Decorate a Mother’s Day Cake.

This class is open to Dad’s and kids alike. You will be working in pairs. Each pair will receive a cake to decorate and take home.

You will learn,

  1. Chocolate Cake
  2. Chocolate Butter Cream
  3. Fondant Icing
  4. Cut out Designs
  5. Decorating a whole cake

Price Per Pair of Parent and Child or Siblings: $105 (extra child $30) Class will commence once there are five sets of participants.

Saturday May 14th 10 to 12.30 pm

A Day of Vegetarian Pies and Delights.

Icy Desserts – A first.

I’ve had some nice icy desserts in this hot weather here in Australia and Fiji and I’ve finally got the guts to do this class.  I will need three days confirmation for the class so as to have enough ice cream and gelato ready as we will not be able to consume the stuff we make straight away.

You will learn:

  1. Mango Lime Gelato
  2. Cardamom Coffee and Almond Ice Cream
